Getting Started with Haygood Full-Spectrum CBD
Have you heard about the many potential benefits of CBD but don’t know where to start? Haygood Farms has you covered. We’re passionate about the plants we grow, the quality products we make, and the people we serve with our organically grown hemp.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of many compounds found in the cannabis plant. Because of its non-intoxicating properties, it’s one of the most studied cannabinoids present in cannabis. Studies have shown it has the potential for therapeutic applications and has anti-inflammatory properties, among many other benefits.
Many individuals take to help relax, sleep, reduce anxiety or stress, or for pain. CBD is not addictive. Haygood CBD products are created with the highest quality ingredients and our own Tennessee-grown organic hemp. Read more about our process.
How Should I Take Haygood CBD?
We suggest getting started with one of Haygood’s full-spectrum hemp extract oils. These products are a blend of extracted hemp oil and MCT oil. Each oil has an earthy flavor and, if you’d prefer, we offer a peppermint blended oil as well.
Before using CBD, talk with your physician or healthcare provider, as CBD may interact with certain medications, or be contraindicated for an underlying medical condition.
To get started, use a low dosage and go slowly—our Haygood 300mg full-spectrum oil provides 10mg per dropperful for easy dosing. Moderate strength. Take notes about your experience, including how much you took and when you took it, when you felt the effects and how long they lasted.
Some individuals start with 10mg or less, while others find benefit from as much as 40 to 60mg daily depending on the desired effects. A main side effect of CBD is drowsiness, which should be taken into consideration for daytime use. The best way to determine dosing is to listen to your body and determine your response to CBD. Every one may respond differently—some may feel relaxed and drowsy after one dose while others may need a daily regimen to experience the benefits of CBD.
Endocannabinoid System & Delivery Methods
“The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex nerve cell signaling system that modulates the central nervous system’s function and helps maintain homeostasis.”
-MedicineNet

Our body is filled with endocannabinoids and receptors that bind together in order to signal what action needs to be taken. CB1 and CB2 are the two main receptors. The endocannabinoid receptors respond to other cannabinoids to help provide various results. According to the Cannabis Health Index, THC binds equally to CB1 & CB2, CBD binds better to CB2, CBN binds better to CB2.
Topicals
Topical products, like our Play Good Muscle Freeze, combine organically grown, full-spectrum hemp extract with soothing botanical ingredients, including cooling menthol and arnica montana. Similarly, Haygood salve may provide pain relief when applied and comes in three soothing scents. The body’s endocannabinoid receptors respond to CBD absorbed through the skin to provide pain relief.

Extracts
Oral products, like Haygood’s full-spectrum oils, can be taken under the tongue, or sublingually, stirred into a beverage or other drink, or added to foods. When held under the tongue for a few seconds before being swallowed, CBD extract oil is absorbed through the membranes under the tongue and absorbed more quickly into the blood stream.
Capsules
Other ingestible products, such as gummies or our full-spectrum Be Good Relaxation Capsules or Stay Good Immunity Capsules, must travel through the digestive system before absorption. However, effects may last longer than topical or inhaled CBD. Similarly, unlike using a dropper, capsules offer precise dosing. Capsules produce similar effects as oils but are tasteless and merely swallowed.
